Sahih al-Bukhari 4908

Hadith text

Narrated Salim:That `Abdullah bin `Umar told him that he had divorced his wife while she was in her menses so `Umar informed Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) of that. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) became very angry at that and said, "(Ibn `Umar must return her to his house and keep her as his wife till she becomes clean and then menstruates and becomes clean again, whereupon, if he wishes to divorce her, he may do so while she is still clean and before having any sexual relations with her, for that is the legally prescribed period for divorce as Allah has ordered)

Salim bataate hain ke Abdullah bin Umar ne unhein bataaya ke unhone apni biwi ko haiz (maasik dharm) ki haalat mein talaaq de di thi, isper Umar ne Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ko iski khabar di. Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ko isse bahut gussa aaya aur unhone farmaya, '(Ibn Umar ko chaahiye ke wo use apne ghar wapas laayein aur biwi ki tarah rakhein jab tak wo paak na ho jaaye, phir dobara haiz aaye aur phir paak ho jaaye; iske baad, agar wo talaaq dena chaahein, to unhe paakizgi ki haalat mein aur usse humbistari kiye bagair talaaq deni chaahiye, kyunke yahi Shariyat mein muqarrar talaaq ka waqt hai jaisa Allah ne hukm diya hai.)'
