Sahih al-Bukhari 4928

Hadith text

Narrated Musa bin Abi Aisha:That he asked Sa`id bin Jubair regarding (the statement of Allah). 'Move not your tongue concerning (the Qur'an) to make haste therewith.' He said, "Ibn `Abbas said that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to move his lips when the Divine Inspiration was being revealed to him. So the Prophet (ﷺ) was ordered not to move his tongue, which he used to do, lest some words should escape his memory. 'It is for Us to collect it' means, We will collect it in your chest;' and its recitation' means, We will make you recite it. 'But when We recite it (i.e. when it is revealed to you), follow its recital; it is for Us to explain it and make it clear,' (i.e. We will explain it through your tongue)

Musa bin Abi Aisha bataate hain ke unhone Saeed bin Jubair se Allah ke is farmaan ke baare mein pucha, 'Apni zabaan (Quran ko yaad karne ki) jaldi mein mat hilaao.' Unhone kaha, 'Ibn Abbas ne kaha ke Nabi (SAW) jab unpar wahi naazil hoti to apne honth hilaate the. To Nabi (SAW) ko hukm diya gaya ke wo apni zabaan na hilaayein jaisa wo karte the, kahin koi lafz unki yaadasht se na chhoot jaaye. "Ise jama karna Hamaare zimme hai" ka matlab hai, "Hum ise tumhaare seene mein jama kar denge"; "aur iski tilawat" ka matlab hai, "Hum tumse ise padhwaayenge." "Magar jab Hum ise padhein (yaani jab tumpar naazil ho), to uski tilawat ki pairvi karo; iski tafseer karna Hamaare zimme hai" (yaani Hum tumhaari zabaan se hi iski wazaahat karenge).'
