Hadith text
Narrated Sahl bin Sa`d:A lady came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and declared that she had decided to offer herself to Allah and His Apostle. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I am not in need of women." A man said (to the Prophet) "Please marry her to me." The Prophet (ﷺ) said (to him), "Give her a garment." The man said, "I cannot afford it." The Prophet said, "Give her anything, even if it were an iron ring." The man apologized again. The Prophet then asked him, "What do you know by heart of the Qur'an?" He replied, "I know such-andsuch portion of the Qur'an (by heart)." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Then I marry her to you for that much of the Qur'an which you know by heart
Sahl bin Sa'd bataate hain: Ek khaatoon Nabi (SAW) ke paas aayi aur elaan kiya ke usne khud ko Allah aur uske Rasool ke liye hiba karne ka faisla kiya hai. Nabi (SAW) ne farmaya, 'Mujhe auraton ki koi zaroorat nahi.' Ek shaks ne kaha, '(Nabi se) Meherbaani karke unka nikaah mujhse kar dijiye.' Nabi (SAW) ne (usse) kaha, 'Unhein koi kapda do.' Us aadmi ne kaha, 'Mere paas itna nahi hai.' Nabi (SAW) ne kaha, 'Kuch bhi do, chaahe wo loha ki ek anguthi hi ho.' Us aadmi ne phir mazrat pesh ki. Nabi (SAW) ne phir usse pucha, 'Tumhein Quran mein se kya zabaani yaad hai?' Usne jawab diya, 'Mujhe falaan falaan hissa (zabaani) yaad hai.' Nabi (SAW) ne farmaya, 'To main unka nikaah tumse us Quran ke badle kar deta hoon jo tumhein zabaani yaad hai.'
