Hadith text
Narrated Al-Hasan:concerning the Verse: 'Do not prevent them' (2.232) Ma'qil bin Yasar told me that it was revealed in his connection. He said, "I married my sister to a man and he divorced her, and when her days of 'Idda (three menstrual periods) were over, the man came again and asked for her hand, but I said to him, 'I married her to you and made her your bed (your wife) and favored you with her, but you divorced her. Now you come to ask for her hand again? No, by Allah, she will never go back to you (again)!' That man was not a bad man and his wife wanted to go back to him. So Allah revealed this Verse: 'Do not prevent them.' (2.232) So I said, 'Now I will do it (let her go back to him), O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)."So he married her to him again
Al-Hasan is Aayat ke baare mein bataate hain: 'Unhein rokoo mat...' (2:232) Ma'qil bin Yasar ne mujhe bataaya ke ye unke silsile mein naazil hui thi. Unhone kaha, 'Maine apni behen ka nikaah ek aadmi se karwaaya, aur usne use talaaq de di. Jab uski Iddat (teen haiz ki muddat) poori ho gayi, wo aadmi dobara aaya aur uska rishta maanga, magar maine usse kaha, "Maine tumhaari shaadi usse karwaayi aur use tumhaari biwi banaaya aur tumhein usse nawaaza, magar tumne use talaaq de di. Ab tum dobara uska rishta maangne aaye ho? Nahi, Allah ki qasam, wo tumhaare paas kabhi wapas nahi jaayegi!" Wo aadmi bura aadmi nahi tha, aur uski (pehli) biwi bhi usse wapas jaana chaahti thi. To Allah ne ye Aayat naazil ki: "Unhein rokoo mat." (2:232) Isper maine kaha, "Ab main aisa hi karunga (use wapas jaane doonga), Aye Allah ke Rasool!" To unhone dobara uska nikaah usse karwaa diya.'
