Sahih al-Bukhari 5336

Hadith text

Zainab further said:"I heard my mother, Um Salama saying that a woman came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! The husband of my daughter has died and she is suffering from an eye disease, can she apply kohl to her eye?" Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) replied, "No," twice or thrice. (Every time she repeated her question) he said, "No." Then Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) added, "It is just a matter of four months and ten days. In the Pre-Islamic Period of ignorance a widow among you should throw a globe of dung when one year has elapsed

Zainab ne aage kaha: Maine apni maa, Umm Salama, ko kehte suna ke ek aurat Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ke paas aayi aur kaha, 'Aye Allah ke Rasool! Meri beti ke shohar ka intekaal ho gaya hai aur uski aankh mein takleef hai, kya wo apni aankh mein surma laga sakti hai?' Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ne do ya teen baar kaha, 'Nahi.' (Har baar jab usne apna sawaal dohraaya) unhone kaha, 'Nahi.' Phir Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ne farmaya, 'Ye sirf chaar mahine das din ki baat hai. Jaahiliyat ke daur mein tum mein se koi biwaa ek saal guzarne par gobar ka golaa phenka karti thi.'
