Hadith text

Narrated Anas bin Malik: Abu Talha had a child who was sick. Once, while Abu Talha was out, the child died. When Abu Talha returned home, he asked, "How does my son fare?" Um Salaim (his wife) replied, "He is quieter than he has ever been." Then she brought supper for him and he took his supper and slept with her. When he had finished, she said (to him), "Bury the child (as he's dead)." Next morning Abu Talha came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and told him about that. The Prophet (ﷺ) said (to him), "Did you sleep with your wife last night?" Abu Talha said, "Yes". The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "O Allah! Bestow your blessing on them as regards that night of theirs." Um Sulaim gave birth to a boy. Abu Talha told me to take care of the child till it was taken to the Prophet. Then Abu Talha took the child to the Prophet (ﷺ) and Um Sulaim sent some dates along with the child. The Prophet (ﷺ) took the child (on his lap) and asked if there was something with him. The people replied, "Yes, a few dates." The Prophet took a date, chewed it, took some of it out of his mouth, put it into the child's mouth and did Tahnik for him with that, and named him 'Abdullah

Anas bin Malik bataate hain: Abu Talha ka ek bacha bimar tha. Ek baar, jab Abu Talha baahar the, bacche ka intekaal ho gaya. Jab Abu Talha ghar wapas aaye, unhone pucha, 'Mera beta kaisa hai?' Umm Sulaim (unki biwi) ne jawab diya, 'Wo pehle se zyaada shaant hai.' Phir unhone unke liye raat ka khaana laaya, aur unhone khaana khaaya aur unke saath so gaye. Jab wo faarigh ho gaye, unhone (usse) kaha, 'Bacche ko dafan kar do (kyunke wo mar chuka hai).' Agli subah Abu Talha Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ke paas gaye aur unhein ye baat bataayi. Nabi (SAW) ne (unse) pucha, 'Kya tum raat ko apni biwi ke saath soye?' Abu Talha ne kaha, 'Haan.' Nabi (SAW) ne farmaya, 'Aye Allah! Unki us raat mein barkat de.' Umm Sulaim ne ek bete ko janm diya. Abu Talha ne mujhse kaha ke main bacche ki dekhbhaal karoon jab tak use Nabi (SAW) ke paas na le jaaya jaaye. Phir Abu Talha bacche ko Nabi (SAW) ke paas le gaye aur Umm Sulaim ne bacche ke saath kuch khajoorein bhi bhejin. Nabi (SAW) ne bacche ko (apni god mein) liya aur pucha ke kya unke paas kuch hai. Logon ne jawab diya, 'Haan, kuch khajoorein hain.' Nabi (SAW) ne ek khajoor li, use chabaaya, kuch apne munh se nikaala, bacche ke munh mein daala aur usse uska Tahnik kiya, aur uska naam Abdullah rakha.
