Hadith text

Narrated Anas:I was waiting on my uncles, serving them with an alcoholic drink prepared from dates, and I was the youngest of them. (Suddenly) it was said that alcoholic drinks had been prohibited. So they said (to me), 'Throw it away." And I threw it away The sub-narrator said: I asked Anas what their drink was (made from), He replied, "(From) ripe dates and unripe dates

Anas bataate hain: Main apne chachaon ki khidmat kar raha tha aur unhein khajoor se banaayi gayi sharaab pila raha tha, aur main unmein sabse chhota tha. (Achaanak) kaha gaya ke sharaab haraam ho gayi hai. To unhone (mujhse) kaha, 'Ise phenk do.' Aur maine use phenk diya. Ravi ne Anas se pucha ke unka sharbat kis cheez se bana tha, unhone jawab diya, '(Pakki) khajoor aur kachi khajoor se.'
