Narrated Ibn `Abbas:When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was on his death-bed and in the house there were some people among whom was `Umar bin Al-Khattab, the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Come, let me write for you a statement after which you will not go astray." `Umar said, "The Prophet (ﷺ) is seriously ill and you have the Qur'an; so the Book of Allah is enough for us." The people present in the house differed and quarrelled. Some said "Go near so that the Prophet (ﷺ) may write for you a statement after which you will not go astray," while the others said as `Umar said. When they caused a hue and cry before the Prophet, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Go away!" Narrated 'Ubaidullah: Ibn `Abbas used to say, "It was very unfortunate that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was prevented from writing that statement for them because of their disagreement and noise

Ibn Abbas bataate hain: Jab Allah ke Rasool (SAW) apni maut ke bistar par the aur ghar mein kuch log maujood the, jinmein Umar bin Al-Khattab bhi the, Nabi (SAW) ne farmaya, 'Aao, main tumhaare liye ek baat likh doon jiske baad tum kabhi gumraah nahi hoge.' Umar ne kaha, 'Nabi (SAW) sakht bimar hain aur tumhaare paas Quran hai; Allah ki Kitaab hamare liye kaafi hai.' Ghar mein maujood log alag-alag raay rakhte the aur bahas karne lage. Kuch ne kaha, 'Nazdeek jao taake Nabi (SAW) tumhaare liye ek baat likh dein jiske baad tum kabhi gumraah nahi hoge,' jabke doosron ne wahi kaha jo Umar ne kaha. Jab unhone Nabi (SAW) ke saamne shor-sharaba kiya, Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ne farmaya, 'Chale jaao!' Ravi Ubaidullah bataate hain: Ibn Abbas kaha karte the, 'Ye bahut hi badqismati thi ke Allah ke Rasool (SAW) unke ikhtelaf aur shor ki wajah se unke liye wo baat likhne se rok diye gaye.'
