Book 77: Dress · Hadith 12

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ أَنَّ رَجُلاً، قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا يَلْبَسُ الْمُحْرِمُ مِنَ الثِّيَابِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ "‏ لاَ يَلْبَسُ الْمُحْرِمُ الْقَمِيصَ، وَلاَ السَّرَاوِيلَ، وَلاَ الْبُرْنُسَ، وَلاَ الْخُفَّيْنِ، إِلاَّ أَنْ لاَ يَجِدَ النَّعْلَيْنِ، فَلْيَلْبَسْ مَا هُوَ أَسْفَلُ مِنَ الْكَعْبَيْنِ ‏"‏‏.‏

Narrated Ibn `Umar:A man asked, "O Allah's Apostle What kind of clothes should a Muhrim wear?" The Prophet, said, "A Muhrim should not wear a shirt, trousers a hooded cloak, or Khuffs (socks made from thick fabric or leather) unless he cannot get sandals, in which case he should cut the part (of the Khuff) that covers the ankles

Ibn Umar bataate hain: Ek shaks ne pucha, 'Aye Allah ke Rasool! Muhrim (Ihram waale) ko kaise kapde pehnne chaahiye?' Nabi (SAW) ne farmaya, 'Muhrim ko qamees, pajaama, hood waala chogha, ya Khuff (mote kapde ya chamde ke mozon) nahi pehnne chaahiye, siwaaye is ke ke use jootiyaan na milein, aisi soorat mein use Khuff ka wo hissa kaat dena chaahiye jo takhne dhaankta hai.'
