Sahih al-Bukhari 5823

Hadith text

Narrated Um Khalid bint Khalid:The Prophet (ﷺ) was given some clothes including a black Khamisa. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "To whom shall we give this to wear?" The people kept silent whereupon the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Fetch Um Khalid for me." I (Um Khalid) was brought carried (as I was small girl at that time). The Prophet (ﷺ) took the Khamisa in his hands and made me wear it and said, "May you live so long that your dress will wear out and you will mend it many times." On the Khamisa there were some green or pale designs (The Prophet (ﷺ) saw these designs) and said, "O Um Khalid! This is Sanah." (Sanah in a Ethiopian word meaning beautiful)

Umm Khalid bint Khalid bataati hain: Nabi (SAW) ko kuch kapde diye gaye jinmein ek kaala Khamisa bhi tha. Nabi (SAW) ne kaha, 'Ise kise pehnne ke liye dein?' Log khaamosh rahe, isper Nabi (SAW) ne kaha, 'Umm Khalid ko mere paas laao.' Mujhe (Umm Khalid ko) uthaakar laaya gaya (kyunke main us waqt chhoti bachi thi). Nabi (SAW) ne Khamisa apne haathon mein liya aur mujhe pehnaaya aur kaha, 'Itni umar jiyo ke tumhaara ye kapda purana ho jaaye aur tum ise kayi baar theek karwaao.' Khamisa par kuch hare ya halke rang ke design the (Nabi SAW ne wo design dekhe) aur kaha, 'Aye Umm Khalid! Ye Sanah hai.' ('Sanah' ek Habshi lafz hai jiska matlab hai khoobsoorat.)
