Umar bin Al-Khattab bataate hain: Kuch Sabi (yaani jang ke qaidi, bachche aur auraten) Nabi (SAW) ke saamne laaye gaye, aur dekha to unmein ek aurat apna doodh apne haathon se nikaal rahi thi bachche ko pilaane ke liye, aur jab bhi use qaidiyon mein koi bachcha milta, wo use apni chhaati se lagaakar doodh pilaati (usne apna bachcha kho diya tha magar baad mein use paaya). Nabi (SAW) ne humse kaha, 'Kya tumhein lagta hai ye khaatoon apne bete ko aag mein phenk sakti hai?' Humne jawab diya, 'Nahi, agar uske paas usse na phenkne ki taaqat hai.' Nabi (SAW) ne phir kaha, 'Allah apne bandon par is khaatoon se bhi zyaada meherbaan hai jitna wo apne bete par hai.'
