Book 78: Good Manners and Form (Al-Adab) · Hadith 109
Hadith text
Narrated `Abdullah:`Umar saw a silken cloak over a man (for sale) so he took it to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, 'O Allah's Apostle! Buy this and wear it when the delegate come to you.' He said, 'The silk is worn by one who will have no share (in the Here-after).' Some time passed after this event, and then the Prophet (ﷺ) sent a (similar) cloak to him. `Umar brought that cloak back to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, 'You have sent this to me, and you said about a similar one what you said?' The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'I have sent it to you so that you may get money by selling it.' Because of this, Ibn `Umar used to hate the silken markings on the garments
Abdullah bataate hain: Umar ne ek shaks ke paas resham ka ek chogha (bikaau) dekha, to wo use Nabi (SAW) ke paas le gaye aur kaha, 'Aye Allah ke Rasool! Ise khareed lijiye aur jab aapke paas wafd (delegation) aaye tab pehniye.' Unhone kaha, 'Resham wahi pehanta hai jiska Aakhirat mein koi hissa nahi.' Kuch waqt guzarne ke baad, Nabi (SAW) ne unhein (Umar ko) ek (aisa hi) chogha bheja. Umar wo chogha wapas Nabi (SAW) ke paas le aaye aur kaha, 'Aapne ye mujhe bheja, jabke aapne isi jaisi cheez ke baare mein jo kaha wo kaha?' Nabi (SAW) ne kaha, 'Maine ye tumhein isliye bheja hai taake tum ise bechkar paise kama sako.' Isi wajah se, Ibn Umar resham ke nishaanaat waale kapdon ko napasand karte the.
