Sahih al-Bukhari 6156

Hadith text

Narrated `Aisha:Allah, the brother of Abu Al-Qu'ais asked my permission to enter after the verses of Al-Hijab (veiling the ladies) was revealed, and I said, "By Allah, I will not admit him unless I take permission of Allah's Apostle for it was not the brother of Al-Qu'ais who had suckled me, but it was the wife of Al-Qu'ais, who had suckled me." Then Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) entered upon me, and I said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! The man has not nursed me but his wife has nursed me." He said, "Admit him because he is your uncle (not from blood relation, but because you have been nursed by his wife), Taribat Yaminuki." `Urwa said, "Because of this reason, ' Aisha used to say: Foster suckling relations render all those things (marriages etc.) illegal which are illegal because of the corresponding blood relations." Aisha bataati hain: Aflah, Abu Al-Qu'ais ke bhai, ne Hijab ki Aayat naazil hone ke baad mujhse milne ki ijaazat maangi, aur maine kaha, 'Allah ki qasam, main unhein andar nahi aane doongi jab tak Allah ke Rasool (SAW) se ijaazat na le loon, kyunke mujhe Al-Qu'ais ke bhai ne nahi, balke Al-Qu'ais ki biwi ne doodh pilaaya tha.' Phir Allah ke Rasool (SAW) mere paas aaye, aur maine kaha, 'Aye Allah ke Rasool! Is aadmi ne mujhe doodh nahi pilaaya, unki biwi ne pilaaya hai.' Unhone kaha, 'Unhein andar aane do, kyunke wo tumhaare chacha hain (khoon ke rishte se nahi, balke iss wajah se ke tumhein unki biwi ne doodh pilaaya), Taribat Yaminuki (tumhaare haath mein khaak pade, ek Arabi muhaawara).' Urwa kehte hain, 'Isi wajah se, Aisha kaha karti thin: Doodh-rishte ke sambandh wahi cheezein haraam karte hain jo khoon ke rishte haraam karte hain.'
