Sahih al-Bukhari 6303

Hadith text

Narrated `Amr:Ibn `Umar said, "By Allah, I have not put a brick over a brick (i.e. constructed a building) or planted any date-palm tree since the death of the Prophet." Sufyan (the sub narrator) said, "I told this narration (of Ibn `Umar) to one of his (Ibn `Umar's) relatives, and he said, 'By Allah, he did build (something.' "Sufyan added, "I said, 'He must have said (the above narration) before he built

Amr bataate hain: Ibn Umar ne kaha, 'Allah ki qasam, maine Nabi (SAW) ke intekaal ke baad se na ek eent ke oopar ek eent rakhi hai (yaani koi imaarat nahi banaayi), na koi khajoor ka darakht lagaaya hai.' Ravi Sufyan kehte hain, 'Maine ye riwaayat (Ibn Umar ki) unke ek rishtedaar ko sunaayi, aur unhone kaha, "Allah ki qasam, unhone (kuch) banaaya."' Sufyan ne aage kaha, 'Maine kaha, "Unhone shaayad (upar wali baat) ise banaane se pehle kahi hogi."'
