Hadith text
Narrated Salama bin Al-Akwa`:We went out with the Prophet (ﷺ) to Khaibar. A man among the people said, "O 'Amir! Will you please recite to us some of your poetic verses?" So 'Amir got down and started chanting among them, saying, "By Allah! Had it not been for Allah, we would not have been guided." 'Amir also said other poetic verses which I do not remember. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Who is this (camel) driver?" The people said, "He is 'Amir bin Al-Akwa`," He said, "May Allah bestow His Mercy on him." A man from the People said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Would that you let us enjoy his company longer." When the people (Muslims) lined up, the battle started, and 'Amir was struck with his own sword (by chance) by himself and died. In the evening, the people made a large number of fires (for cooking meals). Allah's Apostle said, "What is this fire? What are you making the fire for?" They said, "For cooking the meat of donkeys." He said, "Throw away what is in the pots and break the pots!" A man said, "O Allah's Prophet! May we throw away what is in them and wash them?" He said, "Never mind, you may do so." Salama bin Al-Akwa bataate hain: Hum Nabi (SAW) ke saath Khaibar ki taraf nikle. Logon mein se ek shaks ne kaha, 'Aye Aamir! Kya aap humein apni shaayari se kuch sunaayenge?' To Aamir utre aur unke beech (Huda ki tarz mein) padhna shuru kiya, kehte hue, 'Allah ki qasam! Agar Allah na hota, hum hidaayat na paate.' Aamir ne kuch aur sher bhi kahe jo mujhe yaad nahi. Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ne pucha, 'Ye (oonton ka) haankne wala kaun hai?' Logon ne kaha, 'Ye Aamir bin Al-Akwa hain.' Unhone kaha, 'Allah unpar reham kare.' Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ne pucha, 'Ye kaisi aag hai? Tum ye aag kis liye jala rahe ho?' Unhone kaha, 'Gadhon ka gosht pakaane ke liye.' Unhone kaha, 'Degon mein jo hai use phenk do aur degein todo!' Ek shaks ne kaha, 'Aye Allah ke Nabi! Kya hum unmein jo hai use phenk kar unhein dho sakte hain?' Unhone kaha, 'Koi baat nahi, tum aisa kar sakte ho.' (Poori tafseel ke liye Hadees No. 509, Jild 3 dekhein.)
