Sahih al-Bukhari 6342

Hadith text

Narrated Anas:While the Prophet (ﷺ) was delivering a sermon on a Friday, a man stood up and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Invoke Allah to bless us with rain." (The Prophet (ﷺ) invoked Allah for rain.) So, the sky became overcast and it started raining till one could hardly reach one's home. It kept on raining till the next Friday when the same man or another man got up and said (to the Prophet), "Invoke Allah to withhold the rain from us, for we have been drowned (with heavy rain )." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "O Allah! Let it rain around us and not on us." Then the clouds started dispersing around Medina and rain ceased to fall on the people of Medina

Anas bataate hain: Jab Nabi (SAW) Jumme ke din khutba de rahe the, ek shaks khada hua aur kaha, 'Aye Allah ke Rasool! Allah se dua kijiye ke wo humein baarish se barkat de.' (Nabi SAW ne baarish ke liye Allah se dua ki.) To aasman baadalon se dhak gaya aur itni baarish hui ke ghar pahunchna mushkil ho gaya. Ye agle Jumme tak baarish hoti rahi yahaan tak ke wahi shaks (ya koi aur shaks) khada hua aur (Nabi se) kaha, 'Allah se dua kijiye ke wo hamse baarish rok le, kyunke hum (bhaari baarish se) doob rahe hain.' Nabi (SAW) ne kaha, 'Aye Allah! Baarish hamare aas-paas barsaa, hampar nahi.' Phir baadal Madina ke oopar se hatkar bikharne lage aur Madina ke logon par baarish barasna band ho gaya.
