Hadith text
Narrated Shaqiq:While we were waiting for `Abdullah (bin Mas`ud). Yazid bin Muawiya came. I said (to him), "Will you sit down?" He said, "No, but I will go into the house (of Ibn Mas`ud) and let your companion (Ibn Mas`ud) come out to you; and if he should not (come out), I will come out and sit (with you)." Then `Abdullah came out, holding the hand of Yazid, addressed us, saying, "I know that you are assembled here, but the reason that prevents me from coming out to you, is that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) used to preach to us at intervals during the days, lest we should become bored
Shaqiq bataate hain: Jab hum Abdullah (bin Masud) ka intezaar kar rahe the, Yazid bin Muawiya aaye. Maine (unse) kaha, 'Kya aap baithenge?' Unhone kaha, 'Nahi, magar main (Ibn Masud ke) ghar jaunga aur aapke saathi (Ibn Masud) ko aapke paas baahar aane doonga; aur agar wo nahi aaye, to main baahar aakar (aapke saath) baithunga.' Phir Abdullah, Yazid ka haath pakde hue, baahar aaye aur humse khitaab karte hue kaha, 'Mujhe pata hai tum log yahaan jama ho, magar jo cheez mujhe tumhare paas baahar aane se rokti hai wo ye hai ke Allah ke Rasool (SAW) humein alag-alag dinon mein waqfe se naseehat kiya karte the, taake hum ub na jaayein.'
