Hadith text
Narrated Abu Wail:We paid a visit to Khabbab who was sick, and he said, "We migrated with the Prophet (ﷺ) for Allah's Sake and our wages became due on Allah. Some of us died without having received anything of the wages, and one of them was Mus`ab bin `Umair, who was martyred on the day of the battle of Uhud, leaving only one sheet (to shroud him in). If we covered his head with it, his feet became uncovered, and if we covered his feet with it, his head became uncovered. So the Prophet (ﷺ) ordered us to cover his head with it and put some Idhkhir (a kind of grass) over his feet. On the other hand, some of us have had the fruits (of our good deed) and are plucking them (in this world)
Abu Wail bataate hain: Hum Khabbab se milne gaye jo bimar the, aur unhone kaha, 'Hum Allah ki khaatir Nabi (SAW) ke saath hijrat karke aaye, aur hamaari mazdoori Allah par vaajib ho gayi. Hum mein se kuch aisa mar gaye bina apni mazdoori ka kuch bhi paaye, aur unmein se ek Mus'ab bin Umair the, jo jang-e-Uhud ke din shaheed hue, sirf ek chaadar chhod kar (unhein kafan dene ke liye). Agar hum unka sar usse dhaankte, unke pair khul jaate, aur agar hum unke pair dhaankte, unka sar khul jaata. To Nabi (SAW) ne humein hukm diya ke unka sar usse dhaankein aur unke pairon par kuch Idhkhir (ek qism ki ghaas) rakhein. Doosri taraf, humein se kuch ko (hamare nek amaal ke) phal mile hain aur hum unhein (is duniya mein) chun rahe hain.'
