Sahih al-Bukhari 6595

Hadith text

Narrated Anas bin Malik:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Allah puts an angel in charge of the uterus and the angel says, 'O Lord, (it is) semen! O Lord, (it is now ) a clot! O Lord, (it is now) a piece of flesh.' And then, if Allah wishes to complete its creation, the angel asks, 'O Lord, (will it be) a male or a female? A wretched (an evil doer) or a blessed (doer of good)? How much will his provisions be? What will his age be?' So all that is written while the creature is still in the mother's womb

Anas bin Malik bataate hain: Nabi (SAW) ne farmaya, 'Allah garbh (uterus) par ek farishte ko muqarrar karta hai, aur farishta kehta hai, "Aye Rab, (ye) veerya hai! Aye Rab, (ab ye) jama-shuda khoon hai! Aye Rab, (ab ye) gosht ka tukda hai!" Aur phir, agar Allah iski takhleeq poori karna chaahta hai, farishta poochta hai, "Aye Rab, (kya ye) ladka hoga ya ladki? Badnaseeb (buraai karne wala) hoga ya khush-naseeb (achhaai karne wala)? Iska rizq kitna hoga? Iski umar kya hogi?" To ye sab likh diya jaata hai jabke jeev abhi maa ke garbh mein hi hota hai.'
