Hadith text

Narrated Abu Humaid As-Sa`idi:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) employed an employee (to collect Zakat). The employee returned after completing his job and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! This (amount of Zakat) is for you, and this (other amount) was given to me as a present." The Prophet (ﷺ) said to him, "Why didn't you stay at your father's or mother's house and see if you would be given presents or not?" Then Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) got up in the evening after the prayer, and having testified that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and praised and glorified Allah as He deserved, he said, "Now then ! What about an employee whom we employ and then he comes and says, 'This amount (of Zakat) is for you, and this (amount) was given to me as a present'? Why didn't he stay at the house of his father and mother to see if he would be given presents or not? By Him in Whose Hand Muhammad's soul is, none of you will steal anything of it (i.e. Zakat) but will bring it by carrying it over his neck on the Day of Resurrection. If it has been a camel, he will bring it (over his neck) while it will be grunting, and if it has been a cow, he will bring it (over his neck), while it will be mooing; and if it has been a sheep, he will bring it (over his neck) while it will be bleeding." The Prophet (ﷺ) added, "I have preached you (Allah's Message)." Abu Humaid said, "Then Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) raised his hands so high that we saw the whiteness of his armpits

Abu Humaid As-Sa'idi bataate hain: Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ne ek mulaazim (Zakat jama karne ke liye) rakha. Wo mulaazim apna kaam poora karke wapas aaya aur kaha, 'Aye Allah ke Rasool! Ye (Zakat ki raqam) aapke liye hai, aur ye (doosri raqam) mujhe tohfe mein di gayi.' Nabi (SAW) ne unse kaha, 'Tum apne waalid ya apni maa ke ghar kyun nahi baithe rahe aur dekha ke tumhein tohfe milte hain ya nahi?' Phir Allah ke Rasool (SAW) shaam ko namaz ke baad uthe aur ye gawaahi dekar ke Allah ke siwa koi ibaadat ke laayak nahi, aur Allah ki jaisi tareef aur hamd ki jaani chaahiye waisi ki, unhone kaha, 'Ab, aage! Us mulaazim ka kya jo hum use rakhte hain aur phir wo aakar kehta hai, "Ye (Zakat ki raqam) aapke liye hai, aur ye (doosri raqam) mujhe tohfe mein di gayi"? Wo apne waalid ya apni maa ke ghar kyun nahi raha ye dekhne ke liye ke wo tohfe paata hai ya nahi? Us Zaat ki qasam jiske haath mein Muhammad ki jaan hai, tum mein se koi bhi isme se (Zakat mein se) kuch chura kar nahi le jaayega magar wo use Qayamat ke din apni gardan par uthaakar laayega. Agar wo oont raha hoga, to wo use (apni gardan par) laayega jabke wo bulbulaa raha hoga, aur agar wo gaay rahi hogi, to wo use (apni gardan par) laayega jabke wo raambhati hogi; aur agar wo bakri rahi hogi, to wo use (apni gardan par) laayega jabke wo bhen-bhena rahi hogi.' Nabi (SAW) ne izaafa kiya, 'Maine tumhein (Allah ka paighaam) pahunchaa diya hai.' Abu Humaid ne kaha, 'Phir Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ne apne haath itne ooncha uthaaye ke humne unki baaghal ki safedi dekhi.'
