Hadith text

Narrated Anas bin Malik:Abu Talha said to Um Sulaim, "I heard the voice of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) rather weak, and I knew that it was because of hunger. Have you anything (to present to the Prophet)?" She said, "Yes." Then she took out a few loaves of barley bread and took a veil of hers and wrapped the bread with a part of it and sent me to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ). I went and found Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) sitting in the mosque with some people. I stood up before him. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to me, "Has Abu Talha sent you?" I said, ' Yes. Then Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to those who were with him. "Get up and proceed." I went ahead of them (as their forerunner) and came to Abu Talha and informed him about it. Abu Talha said, "O Um Sulaim! Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) has come and we have no food to feed them." Um Sulaim said, "Allah and His Apostle know best." So Abu Talha went out (to receive them) till he met Allah's Messenger (ﷺ). Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came in company with Abu Talha and they entered the house. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "O Um Sulaim! Bring whatever you have." So she brought that (barley) bread and Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) ordered that bread to be broken into small pieces, and then Um Sulaim poured over it some butter from a leather butter container, and then Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said what Allah wanted him to say, (i.e. blessing the food). Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) then said, "Admit ten men." Abu Talha admitted them and they ate to their fill and went out. He again said, "Admit ten men." He admitted them, and in this way all the people ate to their fill, and they were seventy or eighty men

Anas bin Malik bataate hain: Abu Talha ne Umm Sulaim se kaha, 'Maine Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ki aawaaz kuch kamzor si suni, aur mujhe pata tha ye bhookh ki wajah se hai. Kya tumhaare paas (Nabi ko pesh karne ke liye) kuch hai?' Usne kaha, 'Haan.' Phir usne jau ki kuch rotiyaan nikaali aur apna ek naqaab (dupatta) lekar usse rotiyon ko lapeta aur mujhe Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ke paas bheja. Main gaya aur Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ko Masjid mein kuch logon ke saath baithe paaya. Main unke saamne khada hua. Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ne mujhse kaha, 'Kya Abu Talha ne tumhein bheja hai?' Maine kaha, 'Haan.' Phir Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ne apne saath baithe logon se kaha, 'Utho aur chalo.' Main unse aage nikla (unhein raasta dikhaane ke liye) aur Abu Talha ke paas aaya aur unhein ye baat bataayi. Abu Talha ne kaha, 'Aye Umm Sulaim! Allah ke Rasool (SAW) aa rahe hain aur hamare paas unhein khilaane ke liye khaana nahi hai.' Umm Sulaim ne kaha, 'Allah aur uska Rasool behtar jaante hain.' To Abu Talha (unhein leyne) baahar gaye yahaan tak ke wo Allah ke Rasool (SAW) se mile. Allah ke Rasool (SAW) Abu Talha ke saath aaye aur wo ghar mein daakhil hue. Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ne kaha, 'Aye Umm Sulaim! Jo bhi tumhaare paas hai wo laao.' To usne wo (jau ki) roti laayi aur Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ne hukm diya ke roti ko chhote-chhote tukdon mein tod diya jaaye, aur phir Umm Sulaim ne usmein ghee ki thaili se kuch ghee daala, aur phir Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ne wo kaha jo Allah ne unhein kehna chaaha (yaani khaane ko barkat di). Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ne phir kaha, 'Das aadmiyon ko andar bulaao.' Abu Talha ne unhein andar bulaaya aur unhone pet bhar kar khaana khaaya aur chale gaye. Unhone dobara kaha, 'Das aadmiyon ko andar bulaao.' Unhone unhein andar bulaaya, aur isi tarah, sab logon ne pet bhar kar khaana khaaya, aur wo sattar ya assi log the.
