Book 84: Expiation for Unfulfilled Oaths · Hadith 4
Hadith text
Narrated Abu Huraira:A man came to the Prophets and said, "I am ruined!" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "What is the matter with you?" He said, "I have done a sexual relation with my wife (while fasting) in Ramadan" The Prophet (ﷺ) said to him, "Can you afford to manumit a slave?" He said, "No." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Can you fast for two successive months?" He said, "No." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Can you feed sixty poor persons?" He said, "I have nothing." Later on an Irq (big basket) containing dates was given to the Prophet, and the Prophet (ﷺ) said (to him), "Take this basket and give it in charity." The man said, "To poorer people than we? Indeed, there is nobody between its (i.e., Medina's) two mountains who is poorer than we." The Prophet then said, "Take it and feed your family with it
Abu Huraira bataate hain: Ek shaks Nabi (SAW) ke paas aaya aur kaha, 'Main barbaad ho gaya!' Nabi (SAW) ne kaha, 'Tumhein kya hua?' Usne kaha, 'Maine (roze ki haalat mein) Ramzan mein apni biwi ke saath humbistari kar li.' Nabi (SAW) ne unse kaha, 'Kya tum ek ghulaam azaad karne ki hasiyat rakhte ho?' Usne kaha, 'Nahi.' Nabi (SAW) ne kaha, 'Kya tum do mahine lagataar roza rakh sakte ho?' Usne kaha, 'Nahi.' Nabi (SAW) ne kaha, 'Kya tum sath gareebon ko khaana khila sakte ho?' Usne kaha, 'Mere paas kuch nahi hai.' Baad mein ek Irq (badi tokri) khajooron se bhari Nabi (SAW) ko di gayi, aur Nabi (SAW) ne (usse) kaha, 'Ise (tokri ko) lo aur sadqe mein de do.' Us shaks ne kaha, 'Humse zyaada gareeb logon ko? Beshak, iske (Madina ke) do pahaadon ke beech koi hamse zyaada gareeb nahi hai.' Nabi (SAW) ne phir kaha, 'Ise lo aur apne khaandaan ko khilaao.'
