Book 85: Laws of Inheritance (Al-Faraa'id) · Hadith 20

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَابِرًا ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ دَخَلَ عَلَىَّ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَأَنَا مَرِيضٌ، فَدَعَا بِوَضُوءٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ، ثُمَّ نَضَحَ عَلَىَّ مِنْ وَضُوئِهِ فَأَفَقْتُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّمَا لِي أَخَوَاتٌ‏.‏ فَنَزَلَتْ آيَةُ الْفَرَائِضِ‏.‏

Narrated Jabir:While I was sick, the Prophet (ﷺ) entered upon me and asked for some water to perform ablution, and after he had finished his ablution, he sprinkled some water of his ablution over me, whereupon I became conscious and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! I have sisters." Then the Divine Verses regarding the laws of inheritance were revealed

Jabir bataate hain: Jab main bimar tha, Nabi (SAW) mere paas aaye aur wuzu karne ke liye kuch paani maangaya, aur wuzu khatam karne ke baad, unhone wuzu ka kuch paani mujhpar chhidka, isper mujhe hosh aa gaya aur maine kaha, 'Aye Allah ke Rasool! Meri kuch behnein hain.' Phir miraas ke qawaanin ke baare mein Ilaahi Aayaten naazil hui.
