Sahih al-Bukhari 6819

Hadith text

Narrated Ibn `Umar:A Jew and a Jewess were brought to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) on a charge of committing an illegal sexual intercourse. The Prophet (ﷺ) asked them. "What is the legal punishment (for this sin) in your Book (Torah)?" They replied, "Our priests have innovated the punishment of blackening the faces with charcoal and Tajbiya." `Abdullah bin Salam said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), tell them to bring the Torah." The Torah was brought, and then one of the Jews put his hand over the Divine Verse of the Rajam (stoning to death) and started reading what preceded and what followed it. On that, Ibn Salam said to the Jew, "Lift up your hand." Behold! The Divine Verse of the Rajam was under his hand. So Allah's Apostle ordered that the two (sinners) be stoned to death, and so they were stoned. Ibn `Umar added: So both of them were stoned at the Balat and I saw the Jew sheltering the Jewess

Ibn Umar bataate hain: Ek Yahudi aur ek Yahudi khaatoon Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ke paas zina ke ilzaam mein laaye gaye. Nabi (SAW) ne unse pucha, 'Tumhaari Kitaab (Taurat) mein iski kanooni saza kya hai?' Unhone jawab diya, 'Hamare paadriyon ne chehre ko koyle se kaala karne aur Tajbiya (be-izzati ka ek amal) ki saza banaayi hai.' Abdullah bin Salam ne kaha, 'Aye Allah ke Rasool, unhein Taurat laane ko kahiye.' Taurat laayi gayi, aur phir ek Yahudi ne apna haath Rajam (sangsaar) ki Ilaahi Aayat par rakha aur uske pehle aur baad ki cheezein padhne laga. Isper, Ibn Salam ne us Yahudi se kaha, 'Apna haath uthaao.' Dekho! Rajam ki Ilaahi Aayat uske haath ke neeche thi. To Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ne hukm diya ke dono (gunahgaaron) ko sangsaar kiya jaaye, aur unhein sangsaar kiya gaya. Ibn Umar ne izaafa kiya: To dono ko Al-Balat mein sangsaar kiya gaya aur maine dekha Yahudi Yahudi khaatoon ko (pattharon se) bachaane ki koshish kar raha tha.
