Sahih al-Bukhari 6901

Hadith text

Narrated Sahl bin Sa'd As-Sa'idi: A man peeped through a hole in the door of Allah's Messenger's (ﷺ) house, and at that time, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had a Midri (an iron comb or bar) with which he was rubbing his head. So when Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saw him, he said (to him), "If I had been sure that you were looking at me (through the door), I would have poked your eye with this (sharp iron bar)." Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) added, "The asking for permission to enter has been enjoined so that one may not look unlawfully (at what there is in the house without the permission of its people)

Sahl bin Sa'd As-Sa'idi bataate hain: Ek shaks ne Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ke ghar ke darwaaze mein ek chhed se jhaanka, aur us waqt, Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ke paas ek Midri (loha ka kanghi ya danda) tha jisse wo apna sar khujla rahe the. To jab Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ne use dekha, unhone (usse) kaha, 'Agar mujhe pata hota ke tum mujhe (darwaaze se) dekh rahe ho, to main iss (teez loha ke danda) se tumhaari aankh chubho deta.' Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ne izaafa kiya, 'Andar aane ki ijaazat maangna isliye zaroori kiya gaya hai taake koi na-jaayez tareeke se (ghar mein jo hai use) na dekhe bina wahaan ke logon ki ijaazat ke.'
