Hadith text

Narrated Abu Burda:Abu Musa said, "I came to the Prophet (ﷺ) along with two men (from the tribe) of Ash`ariyin, one on my right and the other on my left, while Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was brushing his teeth (with a Siwak), and both men asked him for some employment. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'O Abu Musa (O `Abdullah bin Qais!).' I said, 'By Him Who sent you with the Truth, these two men did not tell me what was in their hearts and I did not feel (realize) that they were seeking employment.' As if I were looking now at his Siwak being drawn to a corner under his lips, and he said, 'We never (or, we do not) appoint for our affairs anyone who seeks to be employed. But O Abu Musa! (or `Abdullah bin Qais!) Go to Yemen.'" The Prophet then sent Mu`adh bin Jabal after him and when Mu`adh reached him, he spread out a cushion for him and requested him to get down (and sit on the cushion). Behold: There was a fettered man beside Abu Muisa. Mu`adh asked, "Who is this (man)?" Abu Muisa said, "He was a Jew and became a Muslim and then reverted back to Judaism." Then Abu Muisa requested Mu`adh to sit down but Mu`adh said, "I will not sit down till he has been killed. This is the judgment of Allah and His Apostle (for such cases) and repeated it thrice. Then Abu Musa ordered that the man be killed, and he was killed. Abu Musa added, "Then we discussed the night prayers and one of us said, 'I pray and sleep, and I hope that Allah will reward me for my sleep as well as for my prayers

Abu Burda bataate hain: Abu Musa ne kaha, 'Main Ash'ariyin qabeele ke do aadmiyon ke saath Nabi (SAW) ke paas aaya, ek mere daaen aur doosra mere baaen, jabke Allah ke Rasool (SAW) apne daant Siwak se saaf kar rahe the, aur dono aadmiyon ne unse kisi naukri ke liye kaha. Nabi (SAW) ne kaha, "Aye Abu Musa (Aye Abdullah bin Qais!)." Maine kaha, "Us Zaat ki qasam jisne aapko Haq ke saath bheja, in dono aadmiyon ne mujhe apne dil ki baat nahi bataayi, aur mujhe ehsaas nahi tha (realize nahi kiya) ke wo naukri maang rahe hain." Jaise ke main abhi unka Siwak apni honthon ke neeche ek kone mein khinchte dekh raha hoon, aur unhone kaha, "Hum kabhi (ya, hum nahi) apne kaam ke liye us shaks ko muqarrar karte jo naukri maangta hai. Magar Aye Abu Musa! (ya Abdullah bin Qais!) Yemen jaao." Nabi (SAW) ne phir Mu'adh bin Jabal ko unke peechhe bheja, aur jab Mu'adh unke paas pahunche, unhone unke liye ek gaddi bichhaayi aur unse baithne ki darkhwaast ki (gaddi par). Dekho! Abu Musa ke paas ek zanjeer mein bandhi shaks tha. Mu'adh ne pucha, "Ye (aadmi) kaun hai?" Abu Musa ne kaha, "Ye ek Yahudi tha aur Musalmaan ban gaya tha, phir wapas Yahudi mazhab mein laut aaya." Phir Abu Musa ne Mu'adh se baithne ki darkhwaast ki magar Mu'adh ne kaha, "Main tab tak nahi baithunga jab tak use qatl na kar diya jaaye. Ye Allah aur uske Rasool ka faisla hai (aise maamlon ke liye)," aur unhone ye teen baar dohraaya. Phir Abu Musa ne hukm diya ke us aadmi ko qatl kiya jaaye, aur use qatl kar diya gaya.' Abu Musa ne izaafa kiya, 'Phir humne raat ki namaz ke baare mein charcha ki, aur hum mein se ek ne kaha, "Main namaz padhta hoon aur so jaata hoon, aur mujhe ummeed hai Allah mujhe meri neend ke liye bhi ajr dega jaise meri namaz ke liye."'
