Sahih al-Bukhari 6931

Hadith text

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Amr bin Yasar:That they visited Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri and asked him about Al-Harauriyya, a special unorthodox religious sect, "Did you hear the Prophet (ﷺ) saying anything about them?" Abu Sa`id said, "I do not know what Al-Harauriyya is, but I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, "There will appear in this nation---- he did not say: From this nation ---- a group of people so pious apparently that you will consider your prayers inferior to their prayers, but they will recite the Qur'an, the teachings of which will not go beyond their throats and will go out of their religion as an arrow darts through the game, whereupon the archer may look at his arrow, its Nasl at its Risaf and its Fuqa to see whether it is blood-stained or not (i.e. they will have not even a trace of Islam in them)

Abdullah bin Amr bin Yasar bataate hain: Wo Abu Saeed Al-Khudri se milne gaye aur unse Al-Harauriyya (ek khaas gair-parampragat deeni firqa) ke baare mein pucha, 'Kya aapne Nabi (SAW) ko unke baare mein kuch kehte suna?' Abu Saeed ne kaha, 'Mujhe nahi pata Al-Harauriyya kya hai, magar maine Nabi (SAW) ko ye kehte suna, "Is ummat mein -- unhone nahi kaha: is ummat se -- kuch log zaahir honge jo apni ibaadat mein itne parhezgaar dikhenge ke tum apni namaz ko unki namaz ke saamne kam samjhoge, magar wo Quran padhenge jiski taleem unke galay se aage nahi jaayegi aur wo apne deen se aise nikal jaayenge jaise ek teer shikaar se guzar jaata hai, jispar teer chalaane wala apne teer ko dekhega, uske Nasl, Risaf aur Fuqa ko, ye dekhne ke liye ke ismein khoon ka nishaan hai ya nahi (yaani unmein Islam ka koi bhi asar nahi hoga)."'
