Book 91: Interpretation of Dreams · Hadith 23

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، أَنَّ أَبَا قَتَادَةَ الأَنْصَارِيّ َ ـ وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَفُرْسَانِهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ ‏ "‏ الرُّؤْيَا مِنَ اللَّهِ، وَالْحُلْمُ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ، فَإِذَا حَلَمَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْحُلُمَ يَكْرَهُهُ فَلْيَبْصُقْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ وَلْيَسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ مِنْهُ، فَلَنْ يَضُرَّهُ ‏"‏‏.‏

Narrated Abu Qatada Al-Ansari:(a companion of the Prophet (ﷺ) and one of his cavalry men) "I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying, "A good dream is from Allah, and a bad dream is from Satan; so, if anyone of you had a bad dream which he disliked, then he should spit on his left and seek refuge with Allah from it, for it will not harm him

Abu Qatada Al-Ansari (Nabi ke sahaabi aur unke ghudsawaaron mein se ek) bataate hain: 'Maine Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ko ye kehte suna, "Ek achha khwaab Allah ki taraf se hai, aur ek bura khwaab Shaitaan ki taraf se hai; isliye, agar tum mein se koi bura khwaab dekhe jo use napasand ho, to use apni baayi taraf thookna chaahiye aur isse Allah ki panaah maangni chaahiye, kyunke isse use koi nuqsaan nahi hoga."'
