Book 91: Interpretation of Dreams · Hadith 31

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُفَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، حَدَّثَنِي عُقَيْلٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ ‏ "‏ بُعِثْتُ بِجَوَامِعِ الْكَلِمِ، وَنُصِرْتُ بِالرُّعْبِ، وَبَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ أُتِيتُ بِمَفَاتِيحِ خَزَائِنِ الأَرْضِ، فَوُضِعَتْ فِي يَدِي ‏"‏‏.‏ قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ وَبَلَغَنِي أَنَّ جَوَامِعَ الْكَلِمِ أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَجْمَعُ الأُمُورَ الْكَثِيرَةَ الَّتِي كَانَتْ تُكْتَبُ فِي الْكُتُبِ قَبْلَهُ فِي الأَمْرِ الْوَاحِدِ وَالأَمْرَيْنِ‏.‏ أَوْ نَحْوَ ذَلِكَ‏.‏

Narrated Abu Huraira:I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying, "I have been sent with Jawami al-Kalim (i.e., the shortest expression carrying the widest meanings), and I was made victorious with awe (cast into the hearts of the enemy), and while I was sleeping, the keys of the treasures of the earth were brought to me and were put in my hand." Muhammad said, Jawami'-al-Kalim means that Allah expresses in one or two statements or thereabouts the numerous matters that used to be written in the books revealed before (the coming of) the Prophet

Abu Huraira bataate hain: Maine Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ko ye kehte suna, 'Mujhe Jawami-al-Kalim (yaani sabse chhoti baat jo sabse zyaada mafhoom rakhti hai) ke saath bheja gaya hai, aur mujhe khauf ke saath fatah di gayi (dushman ke dil mein daala gaya), aur jab main so raha tha, zameen ke khazaanon ki chaabiyaan mere paas laayi gayi aur mere haath mein rakh di gayi.' Muhammad ne kaha, 'Jawami-al-Kalim ka matlab hai ke Allah ek ya do baaton mein wo bahut se maamle bayaan karta hai jo pehle naazil hui Kitaabon mein (Nabi ke aane se pehle) likhi jaati thi.'
