Hadith text

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar:I have heard 'Umar saying, "The Prophet (ﷺ) used to give me some money (grant) and I would say (to him), 'Give it to a more needy one than me.' Once he gave me some money and I said, 'Give it to a more needy one than me.' The Prophet (ﷺ) said (to me), 'Take it and keep it in your possession and then give it in charity. Take whatever comes to you of this money while you are not keen to have it and not asking for it; take it, but you should not seek to have what you are not given

Abdullah bin Umar bataate hain: Maine Umar ko ye kehte suna, 'Nabi (SAW) mujhe kuch paisa (grant) dete the aur main (unse) kehta, "Ise mujhse zyaada zaroortmand ko dijiye." Ek baar unhone mujhe kuch paisa diya aur maine kaha, "Ise mujhse zyaada zaroortmand ko dijiye." Nabi (SAW) ne (mujhse) kaha, "Ise le lo aur apne paas rakh lo aur phir sadqe mein de do. Jo bhi is paise mein se tumhein mile jabke tum ise pane ke liye betaab nahi ho aur ise maang nahi rahe ho; use le lo, magar tumhein wo paane ki koshish nahi karni chaahiye jo tumhein diya nahi gaya."'
