Hadith text
Narrated Al-Bara':When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) arrived at Medina, he prayed facing Jerusalem for sixteen or seventeen months but he wished that he would be ordered to face the Ka`ba. So Allah revealed: -- 'Verily! We have seen the turning of your face towards the heaven; surely we shall turn you to a prayer direction (Qibla) that shall please you.' (2.144) Thus he was directed towards the Ka`ba. A man prayed the `Asr prayer with the Prophet (ﷺ) and then went out, and passing by some people from the Ansar, he said, "I testify. that I have prayed with the Prophet (ﷺ) and he (the Prophet) has prayed facing the Ka`ba." Thereupon they, who were bowing in the `Asr prayer, turned towards the Ka`ba
Al-Bara bataate hain: Jab Allah ke Rasool (SAW) Madina pahunche, wo solah ya satraah maheenon tak Yerusalem ki taraf muh karke namaz padhte rahe, magar wo chahte the ke unhein Kaaba ki taraf hukm diya jaaye. To Allah ne naazil kiya: 'Beshak! Humne dekha tumhaara chehra baar-baar aasman ki taraf uthta; isliye hum tumhein zaroor ek Qibla ki taraf modenge jo tumhein pasand aayega.' (2:144) Isi tarah unhein Kaaba ki taraf mod diya gaya. Ek shaks ne Nabi (SAW) ke saath Asr ki namaz padhi aur phir baahar gaya, aur Ansaar ke kuch logon ke paas se guzarte hue, usne kaha, 'Main gawaahi deta hoon ke maine Nabi (SAW) ke saath namaz padhi hai aur unhone Kaaba ki taraf muh karke namaz padhi.' Isper, wo log jo Asr ki namaz mein ruku kar rahe the, unhone bhi Kaaba ki taraf apna rukh modh liya.
