Hadith text

Narrated Al-Mughira bin Shu`ba:`Umar bin Al-Khattab asked (the people) about the Imlas of a woman, i.e., a woman who has an abortion because of having been beaten on her `Abdomen, saying, "Who among you has heard anything about it from the Prophet?" I said, "I did.'' He said, "What is that?" I said, "I heard the Prophet saying, "Its Diya (blood money) is either a male or a female slave.' " `Umar said, "Do not leave till you present witness in support of your statement." So I went out, and found Muhammad bin Maslama. I brought him, and he bore witness with me that he had heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, "Its Diya (blood money) is either a male slave or a female slave

Al-Mughira bin Shu'ba bataate hain: Umar bin Al-Khattab ne (logon se) Imlas (garbh-paat, jo peeche par maar khaane se hota hai) ke baare mein pucha, 'Tum mein se kisne Nabi (SAW) se iske baare mein kuch suna hai?' Maine kaha, 'Maine suna hai.' Unhone pucha, 'Wo kya hai?' Maine kaha, 'Maine Nabi (SAW) ko ye kehte suna, "Iska Diya (khoon-bahaa) ek ghulaam ya ek launDi hai."' Umar ne kaha, 'Jab tak tum apni baat ki tasdeeq ke liye gawaah na pesh karo, mat jaana.' To main baahar gaya aur Muhammad bin Maslama ko dhoondh liya. Main unhein le aaya, aur unhone mere saath gawaahi di ke unhone bhi Nabi (SAW) ko ye kehte suna tha, 'Iska Diya ek ghulaam ya ek launDi hai.'
