Book 97: Oneness, Uniqueness of Allah (Tawheed) · Hadith 7

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الأَحْوَلِ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، قَالَ كُنَّا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذْ جَاءَهُ رَسُولُ إِحْدَى بَنَاتِهِ يَدْعُوهُ إِلَى ابْنِهَا فِي الْمَوْتِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ ارْجِعْ فَأَخْبِرْهَا أَنَّ لِلَّهِ مَا أَخَذَ، وَلَهُ مَا أَعْطَى، وَكُلُّ شَىْءٍ عِنْدَهُ بِأَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى، فَمُرْهَا فَلْتَصْبِرْ وَلْتَحْتَسِبْ ‏"‏‏.‏ فَأَعَادَتِ الرَّسُولَ أَنَّهَا أَقْسَمَتْ لَتَأْتِيَنَّهَا، فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَقَامَ مَعَهُ سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ وَمُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ، فَدُفِعَ الصَّبِيُّ إِلَيْهِ وَنَفْسُهُ تَقَعْقَعُ كَأَنَّهَا فِي شَنٍّ فَفَاضَتْ عَيْنَاهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ سَعْدٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ‏.‏ قَالَ ‏"‏ هَذِهِ رَحْمَةٌ جَعَلَهَا اللَّهُ فِي قُلُوبِ عِبَادِهِ، وَإِنَّمَا يَرْحَمُ اللَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ الرُّحَمَاءَ ‏"‏‏.‏

Narrated Usama bin Zaid:We were with the Prophet (ﷺ) when suddenly there came to him a messenger from one of his daughters who was asking him to come and see her son who was dying. The Prophet (ﷺ) said (to the messenger), "Go back and tell her that whatever Allah takes is His, and whatever He gives is His, and everything with Him has a limited fixed term (in this world). So order her to be patient and hope for Allah's reward." But she sent the messenger to the Prophet (ﷺ) again, swearing that he should come to her. So the Prophet got up, and so did Sa`d bin 'Ubada and Mu`adh bin Jabal (and went to her). When the child was brought to the Prophet (ﷺ) his breath was disturbed in his chest as if it were in a water skin. On that the eyes of the Prophet (ﷺ) became flooded with tears, whereupon Sa`d said to him, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! What is this?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "This is mercy which Allah has put in the heart of His slaves, and Allah bestows His mercy only on those of His slaves who are merciful (to others)

Usama bin Zaid bataate hain: Hum Nabi (SAW) ke saath the jab achaanak unki ek beti se ek qaasid aaya, unse ye kehne ke liye ke wo aakar unke bete ko dekhein jo mar raha tha. Nabi (SAW) ne (qaasid se) kaha, 'Wapas jaao aur unhein bataao ke jo bhi Allah leta hai wo uska hai, aur jo bhi wo deta hai wo uska hai, aur Allah ke paas har cheez ka ek muqarrar waqt hai (is duniya mein). Isliye unhein sabra rakhne aur Allah ke ajr ki ummeed rakhne ka hukm do.' Magar unhone phir qaasid ko Nabi (SAW) ke paas bheja, qasam khaate hue ke unhein aana hi hoga. To Nabi (SAW) uthe, aur unke saath Sa'd bin Ubada aur Mu'adh bin Jabal bhi (unke paas gaye). Jab bacche ko Nabi (SAW) ke paas laaya gaya, uski saans uske seene mein aise bhatak rahi thi jaise wo ek mashk (paani ka thaila) ho. Isper Nabi (SAW) ki aankhein aansuon se bhar gayi, jispar Sa'd ne unse kaha, 'Aye Allah ke Rasool! Ye kya hai?' Nabi (SAW) ne kaha, 'Ye reham hai jo Allah ne apne bandon ke dilon mein daala hai, aur Allah apni ye rehmat sirf un bandon par karta hai jo (doosron par) reham karte hain.'
