Sahih al-Bukhari 7478

Hadith text

Narrated Ibn `Abbas:That he differed with Al-Hurr bin Qais bin Hisn Al-Fazari about the companion of Moses, (i.e., whether he was Kha,dir or not). Ubai bin Ka`b Al-Ansari passed by them and Ibn `Abbas called him saying, 'My friend (Hur) and I have differed about Moses' Companion whom Moses asked the way to meet. Did you hear Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) mentioning anything about him?" Ubai said, "Yes, I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "While Moses was sitting in the company of some Israelites a man came to him and asked, 'Do you know Someone who is more learned than you (Moses)?' Moses said, 'No.' So Allah sent the Divine inspiration to Moses:-- 'Yes, Our Slave Khadir is more learned than you' Moses asked Allah how to meet him ( Khadir) So Allah made the fish as a sign for him and it was said to him, 'When you lose the fish, go back (to the place where you lose it) and you will meet him.' So Moses went on looking for the sign of the fish in the sea. The boy servant of Moses (who was accompanying him) said to him, 'Do you remember (what happened) when we betook ourselves to the rock? I did indeed forget to tell you (about) the fish. None but Satan made me forget to tell you about it' (18.63) Moses said: 'That is what we have been seeking." Sa they went back retracing their footsteps. (18.64). So they both found Kadir (there) and then happened what Allah mentioned about them (in the Qur'an)!' (See)

Ibn Abbas bataate hain ke unka Al-Hurr bin Qais bin Hisn Al-Fazari se Musa ke saathi (yaani Khadir the ya nahi) ke baare mein matbhed hua. Ubai bin Ka'b Al-Ansari unke paas se guzre aur Ibn Abbas ne unhein bulaaya, kehte hue, 'Mere dost (Hurr) aur mera Musa ke us saathi ke baare mein matbhed hai jinse Musa ne raasta poocha tha. Kya aapne Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ko unke baare mein kuch kehte suna?' Ubai ne kaha, 'Haan, maine Allah ke Rasool ko ye kehte suna: "Jab Musa Bani Israel ke logon ke ek giroh ke saath baithe the, ek shaks unke paas aaya aur pucha, 'Kya aap kisi aise shaks ko jaante hain jo aapse zyaada ilm rakhta ho (Aye Musa)?' Musa ne kaha, 'Nahi.' To Allah ne Musa ko Ilaahi Wahi bheji: 'Haan, Hamaara bandaa Khadir tumse zyaada ilm rakhta hai.' Musa ne Allah se pucha unse (Khadir se) kaise mile. To Allah ne machhli ko unke liye nishaani banaayi aur unse kaha gaya, 'Jab tum machhli khoye, wapas jaao (us jagah jahaan tumne use khoya) aur tum unse mil jaaoge.' To Musa samundar mein machhli ki nishaani dhoondhte gaye. Musa ke naukar ladke (jo unke saath tha) ne unse kaha, 'Kya aapko yaad hai (kya hua) jab hum us chattaan par gaye? Main sach mein aapko machhli ke baare mein batana bhool gaya. Sirf Shaitaan ne mujhe ye batana bhulaaya.' (18:63) Musa ne kaha: 'Yahi hai jo hum dhoondh rahe the.' To wo apne kadmon ki taraf wapas gaye.' (18:64) To dono ne Khadir ko (wahaan) paaya aur phir wahi hua jo Allah ne unke baare mein zikr kiya (Quran mein)!"' (Poori tafseel ke liye dekhein.)
